Reinvention

I know of a woman who was a lifelong landscaper, active, moving, walking on all sorts of surfaces without a moment’s thought.  After an accident, several surgeries, and fusions, she was left unable to work.  She is now a self-employed custom cookie designer, and has a thriving home-based business.  Reinvention over adversity.

I know of a man who developed extreme arthritis from many years of hard physical labor.  He has now turned his talents to small wooden works of art, which he sells in local and regional art venues.  Reinvention over adversity.

I discovered today a wonderful photographer based in Donegal, Ireland.  James O’Donnell suffered an almost fatal electrocution on his London workplace fifteen years ago.  He is working and thriving today in Donegal with his faithful sidekick, Iggy, a lovely border collie.  Watch the video below to see some of his amazing photography.  Reinvention over adversity.

As long as there is life, there is hope.  As long as there is God, nothing is impossible.  As long as you have breath, praise the Lord.  🙂  Reinvention over adversity.

The Road to Beautiful

DSCN3821

If I had a flying carpet, this is where I would fly.  Right now.  🙂

Memories of past beauty and hope for things to come.

We will either be flying to heaven or flying somewhere, just a matter of time and patience.

Flying to beautiful.

Surrender Things

hummingbird

I noticed something this morning.  The dear hummingbirds, which we adore and feed and watch daily, do not share well.  There has been major fighting and buzz-by dive bombing, bird bullying, and intimidation tactics this morning over the newly filled feeder.  As always, God uses his creation to show me things in myself.  When I am worried about me, about what I get, about what I deserve, things turn ugly.  I become filled with anxiety, anger, entitlement, and arguments.

If the dear little birds just realized that we will continue to fill this feeder faithfully for them, that there is plenty for all, that the sugar water will keep on coming…..they could surrender and drink and be filled.  Peace.

That is what I need also.  Surrender control.  Trust without knowing.  Peace that passes understanding.

Music Things

When I am down, music never fails to lift me up.  One of the greatest gifts God ever gave us is music.  I would like to give away some of my CDs for free to anyone who is interested.  If you would like a free digital copy of my latest CD, An Unexpected Journey, please send me a message below with your email, and I will send you a code to download it.  Or if you prefer a physical CD, send me your address, and I will mail you one.  🙂  With so many negative things everywhere, I just wanted to offer one small positive thing from my corner of the world.

Things of the Light

I love castles, but they can be rather dark affairs inside.  When the light floods in, through an open doorway, exposed crack, or window, it is a glorious thing.  You realize how very much you were craving the light, needing it, waiting for it.

Here is Donegal Castle in Ireland to illustrate.  Note to where your eye is drawn.  The light illuminates all else, reveals the beauty.

I can focus on the darkness, or I can focus on the light.  And I choose the light.  Love, Lisa

“The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.” -John 1:5

“I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.” (Jesus) – John 12:46
