The Creativity Spark

I was talking with a good friend last evening about creativity. What triggers it, what stops it, how to get it going again when you hit a dry spot. So as we enter into the year of our Lord 2023, I thought some inspiring quotes about creativity might be what we all need to kick start what might be languishing in our spirits as we might have overindulged in the indolence that sometimes accompanies the season.

“Every artist was first an amateur.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Look at life with the eyes of a child.” “Creativity takes courage.” -Henri Matisse

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”- Albert Einstein

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” – Genesis 1:1, 27

“Creativity is a habit, and the best creativity is the result of good work habits.” – Twyla Tharp

“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” -Walt Disney

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” – Colossians 3:23

Blessings as we roll into this new year. Love, Lisa

The Way Things Look Vs. The Way Things Are

Things aren’t always what they seem.  I heard that saying so much growing up.  Wise words with much behind them when you really think about it.  The older woman who still feels 28 inside.  The “old soul” 9 year old child who feels more comfortable around adults.  The disreputable-looking man who is quite nice and safe, but no-one will get close enough to discover that.  The polished, attractive woman who is sour and mean inside.  Here are some pictures that are not what they seem.

In this picture, I appear to have a very short body and big head. No snide comments, please! haha 🙂

My son appears much farther away than he really is.

Jesus said once, “Now then, you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and dish but inside you are full of greed and wickedness.” (Luke 11:39)  This verse really makes me think, because I know I’ve been guilty of this sometimes in my life.  Trying to polish up the outside and make it look good, while inside I’m full of not-so-attractive thoughts.  I am so thankful that God is still working on me, and He will never give up!  🙂  Be encouraged!  Slainte, Lisa

Stillness with power

You won’t feel its power until you step in.  Your feet move past the intitial gentle breaker, and you feel the water surrounding you and the sand under your feet.  You let your body float, let the water carry you for a time.  Your mind clears, your worries seem very far away.  You just feel the water, the sun on your face, the gentle rhythm of the small waves, and the weightlessness.

“Be still and know that I am God.”  (Psalm 46:10)  If I can be still and quiet and listen, I can feel God’s power and love for me.  When I am floating on His ocean, I am closer to being quiet and still than in any other place on earth.
