The Traveler

“The Traveler”

Feet are on the road trying to find a place to breathe,

I know I’m not alone, but it can be so lonely trying to get to the heart of what it means to

travel down this road before me.

Never been this way, but the Light before me keeps on shining…

Love is leading me along; Light is in the evening song.

I will find a place to rest and think and sit a while by the waters still,

By the greenest meadow I have ever seen in all my life

The Peace that fills my soul lets me breathe and breathe again

Like I’ve never felt the air before.

When I’ve reached the end of the road and all the wonderful adventures that I’ve known

And I finally see the One who loves me with a perfect love

Who died so I could live forever with Him in Paradise

Neverending journey, safe in His arms….

Love is leading me along; Light is in the evening song.

A Reflection of Greatness

The sea is seemingly endless, and is a true reflection of its Creator.  Pictures cannot capture the enormity of the reality, just like we cannot even begin to understand God.  But He has given us so many ways to begin and to see and to love.

“Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and all who live in them.”  -Isaiah 42:10

Be the bird

“If you’re a bird, then I’m a bird!”  The main characters in the movie “The Notebook” are running and laughing on the beach, in love and happy.  The girl acts like she is flying through the waves and shouts, “I’m a bird!”  The boy, laughing lovingly at her, has to be a bird with her, no other choice.  If she is a bird, he is also.  One without the other is unthinkable, unimaginable.

The longing to fly, to soar, to leave the confines of gravity and take off through the beautiful skies are common themes for us humans.  The good news is that if you love Jesus, you will fly.  You will take off with Him and fly forever.  Be the bird.  🙂

“We…will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.  And so we will be with the Lord forever.”  (1 Thessalonians 4:17)

“I will fly with Jesus; I will soar.  Wrapped in mercy, love and truth & more.  Joy found in Him forever.  I will fly….I will fly…”  (c2012 Lisa Lyons, “I Will Fly”)

Stillness with power

You won’t feel its power until you step in.  Your feet move past the intitial gentle breaker, and you feel the water surrounding you and the sand under your feet.  You let your body float, let the water carry you for a time.  Your mind clears, your worries seem very far away.  You just feel the water, the sun on your face, the gentle rhythm of the small waves, and the weightlessness.

“Be still and know that I am God.”  (Psalm 46:10)  If I can be still and quiet and listen, I can feel God’s power and love for me.  When I am floating on His ocean, I am closer to being quiet and still than in any other place on earth.

As Far As the Eye Can See

We drove up, up, up.  The road was so steep and narrow that I did not dare to take my eyes from the road even for a second to admire the view.  No side rails, no place to pull over, just up.  But at the top….beauty as far as the eye could see.  The most mundane and average looked amazing, serene and inspiring viewed from above.

When I am on top of a hill or mountain, I often like to imagine how God views all of His creation.  He sees it all; He has the ultimate perspective and view.  He sees the ultimate end and how it all works out in the end.  He sees us as beautiful and amazing, His creations.  He loves us and desires the best for us.  And He knows that the journey is worth the view at the end.
